Just arrived in the post a couple of days ago from Samuel Decal are the Dragon Momoko Launcher Strike and Sword Strike kits. You get a good sized box for your $25 each, with clear printing and great model photography of a painted and finished kit.
Somewhat amusing is the claim “Perfect grade level of detail, perfect reduction!” but they’ve been making a big thing about comparing the details on these kits to Bandai’s official 1/00 Strike Gundam kits. To me, these DMs look more like a scaled up Bandai RG in terms of level of detail, but the actual details themselves differ from the RG Strike I have. I don’t have a MG Strike, but when you look at the PG Strike Freedom you see that it really does lack a lot of detail on the armour that you’d really expect it to have given it’s size.
Manual is detailed and well printed, with a lot of nice model shots.
Inside the sturdy cardboard inner are all the runners neatly bagged.
Included are a sheet of water slides and a small set of stickers.
The moulding is impressively detailed. You can’t really compare this level of moulding with that of the Mechanicore Zerstore I’m building. The Mechanicore moulding is soft and often ill-formed. Similarly the MC Model moulding is soft. This is not. The plastic is crisp and the moulding sharp.
Although the box art shows these pieces in nice chrome, they’re just grey plastic in the kit. This is great for painters.
Surprisingly I found I had two “C” runners, but in different shades of blue – dark and bright.
Here’s the “PG” style hands, shrunk down to 1/100 (from 1/60) scale.
Again, really good sharp moulded detail here.
A large polycap runner and some clear plastic parts. The polycap material feels harder than Bandai’s. The clear plastic doesn’t seem crystal clear, but for where it’s used I don’t see that as much of a problem.
The armour parts have detail moulded on the inside.
And impressive detail on the outside.
Alot of people whom i know bought this kit. I mean it is dirt cheap with impressive details, basically a PG kit with MG size and HG price. I haven’t build any Strike or it’s variants yet but this one could be my first.
